Roberto Gato Echanique
Artist - Designer - Motorcyclist

Born and raised inside the Capital Beltway and with over 20 years helping design, build and run amazing live theatre around the Washington, DC-area Bobcat developed diverse skills as an artist and craftsman. He is able to create just about any idea in any material but enjoys a focus on painting and metalwork.

His work highlights and reflects on the dance of death and entropy as the foundation and sustaining force of life. This dance shapes and inspires all our gods and ghosts, myths and monsters, from all around the world. The Buena Vida collection is in the finest tradition of memento mori.

The Cement Safari collection is landscape and portraiture directly inspired from this side of things, highlighting the world as it is discovered among the living.

In 2016 he inherited a motorcycle and his life changed. It helps him deal with mental health struggles while also getting to explore and make art in a new, fast, slightly more dangerous way.

He’s won several small awards for editorial cartoons and theatre work, also published in small town newspaper print, a comics anthology, a self-published book of poetry and several zines.

I named my studio the #ArtMines because I have a blue-collar approach to my work. It isn’t sacred or precious; it’s meant for everybody. I dig deep in the #ArtMines to bring the world something beautiful and with it I feed my dreams.

While limited to reference and inspiration, my ever growing collection of photography is available. Photography is the byproduct of my work. Any photos sold alone are unintentional and I’m grateful for it. You can find my running photo inspiration gallery here:
